XVIII. 20:17-21:11 THE ENTRY OF JERUSALEM BRAVED
A. 20:17-19 SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT OF DEATH AND RESURRECTION

And as Jesus was about to go up to Jerusalem, he took

the twelve disciples apart, and on the way he said the them,
I-DOU, a-naBAIno-men [305] eis Ie-roSOlu-ma;
18Lo, we go up to Jerusalem;

and the Son of :man shall be delivered to the chief priests and scribes;

and they shall condemn him to death,

19and they shall deliver him to the nations to :mock and scourge,

and crucify: and the third day he shall rise again.
B. 20:20-28 QUALIFICATIONS FOR KINGDOM AUTHORITY
a. 20:20 A MOTHER'S REQUEST?

Then came to him the mother of the sons of Zebedee with her :sons,

one on your right, and one on your left, in your :kingdom.
d. 20:22a But :Jesus answered andsaid, You do not know what you ask.

e. 20:22b Can you drink the cup that I am about to drink?

g. 20:23 AN INTERESTING OBSERVATION TO THESE TWO

He says to them, my :cup indeed you shall drink:

but to sit on my right, and on myleft, is not mine to give

but for whom it has been prepared of my :Father.
h. 20:24 And when the ten heard it, they were indignant with the two brothers.

i. 20:25 THE ANALOGY OF WORLD-RULERS

But :Jesus called them to him, andsaid,

You know that the rulers of the nations lord it over them,
kai hoi meGAloi ka-te-xou-siAzou-sin [2715] auTON.
and theirgreat exercise authority over them.
j. 20:26-28 JESUS REVEALS HIS OWN POSITION

Not thus is it among you: but who would become great among you shall be your servant;

27 and who would be first among you shall be your bondman:

C. 20:29-34 HEALING OF THE BLIND AT JERICHO.
a. 20:29 And as they were going out from Jericho, a great crowd followed him.

b. 20:30 THE REQUEST OF TWO BLIND MEN
kai iDOU, DUo tuphLOI [5185] kaTHEme-noi paRA ten hoDON,
And lo, two blind mensitting by the way side,
aKOUsan-tes HOti IeSOUS paRAgei, Ekra-xan, LEgon-tes, KUri-e, eLEe-son heMAS, huiOS DauID.
when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, David's Son.
c. 20:31 A MIXED REACTION

And the crowd rebuked them, that they should keep still:

but they cried out the more, saying, Lord, have mercy on us, David's Son.
d. 20:32 And :Jesus stopped andcalled them, and said, What will you I should do to you?

f. 20:34 JESUS IN PITY RESPONDS

And :Jesus, pitying them, touched their :eyes;

and straightway they looked up, and followed him.
NOTE: As most of you readers know, this assignment of producing a Bible Numeric Interlinear Greek NT based on the two texts of Panin, was initially dropped into my lap in the summer of 1944, shortly after the Lord revealed Himself to me as a sailor in the Canadian Navy. Further illumination came in the Fall of 1945; this took on an added impetus from God in 1967; and finally came into a workable format in the Fall of 2007.
I wouldn't blame any of you for taking little interest in this project. I am personally making excellent use of it, and should I be the only one ever to appreciate and use it - it would still be worth while.
However, in 2009 it received added impetus, when the Lord reminded me of a vision He gave me in 1967 for “Spiritual Star Wars” - an AutomatedLaser-Telescope made up of 7 component parts. Part One was the major piece of this instrument, a globe of some 400 pounds full of dials and lights in the vision. I was informed, “This is the Interlinear Greek NT you are preparing on the basis of Ivan Panin's two texts.” The second component part I was also having a part in - but not the last 5. It wasn't till 2009 that He shared their meaning with me. Without all 7 component parts in satisfactory working order, Spiritual Star Wars will not become effective in the gates of cities.
We have seen smatterings of this taking place, but this year will see a multiplication of the effect in various cities in “Cascadia” - the Pacific NW - especially in the State of Washington. My friend Elvin Gladney will be taking the lead responsibility for these Elderships in the Gates of various Cities. Pray for him and his team. Already he has had unusual results in Tanzania and Kenya this summer with Felix Anderson.
So - the Bible Numeric Interlinear Greek NT based on Panin's prodigious work - is of prime importance, though in the beginning I was unaware of God's thinking in this direction.
Those of you who sense God's call upon you to be a part of these prayer groups - much like Acts 13:1-3; Acts 15; and Boaz in the book of Ruth - will find like me that this component part of the Automated Laser-Telescope is of prime importance.
It is through Elvin Gladney that a friend of his in Washington State feels God's call upon himself to have this project completed through a printed edition. I have but 8 chapters of the Gospel of Matthew to complete, plus the Gospels of Mark and Luke. This year should see the completion, which started 66 years ago.
Again, your prayers will be much appreciated for all present facets of this project. My notes will notappear in the finished work. It is the Word of God that counts - not human enlightenment upon it. Such are more like commentaries and traditions, and have a tendency to make void the Word of God.
Fortunately, the Section, Paragraph, Subdivision and Sentence outlines that appear as part of the text, do throw insight and light. However, even here, these summaries are notinspired; and for this reason I leave a space above each. Feel completely clear to cross out my summaries and substitute your own.
For today's section above, I have no specific notes. Here you can make use of the summaries above. Note however in 20:22 that Jesus here makes use of the plural form of “you”, which shows up in the Greek, but not the translation. He say, “You” (James and John) do not know what you ask. Jesus knew that their mother was merely expressing the wish and desire of the two brothers, her sons. J.A.W.
